Muse

I finally went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to look at the "Model as Muse" exhibit. The exhibit was organized chronologically to showcase the fashion and the models that represented the different eras. Muse is defined as "a source of inspiration" and true to their forms, the models featured, embodied the style and culture of their time. It was also a treat to see some of the past signature designer pieces. I was not entirely successful at documenting the exhibition, but managed to sneak in a few shots even though taking photos was verboten. I seriously thought the burly guard was going to kick me out! Alas...enjoy the forbidden fruit, sit back and relax since I did the work so you wont' have to.

Also inspired by this exhibition, I will attempt to gather pieces from my wardrobe that resemble those shown at the exhibition.

Not part of the "Model as Muse" exhibit, but I love the draping, which inspired the look below.

Baubles, bling and beads

The fireworks on July 4 were amazing. We had the best seat in the house. I wish the fireworks were on the Hudson every year! The fireworks have somewhat inspired this week's blog. They reminded me of my collection of jewelry which I have amassed over the years, most of which are costume jewelry. I have often built an outfit around the jewelry and so the clothing will be kept simple to showcase the baubles, bling and beads.
